Option maintenance - OPTMAN

To create a main menu and build an application.

MVtools stores a record for every menu option on the options file. This database can be updated using the OPTMAN command. A menu is an option that stores a list of sub-options as a multi-valued field.

Moving options onto other menus is simply a matter of entering the required option id onto the other menus list of option.

This is different to other systems such as SB+ where there is no menu options file but only a menu definition with syntax entered into the menu for each menu option.

Menus will be constructed at run time for each user so that only options that have legal access for that user will be visible if the option specifies user groups that do not include any user groups that this user is a member of.

OPTMAN allows administrators and developers to set up application menu options. These option can be restricted to certain groups of users or allowed to all users. Use the GRPMAN screen for setting up user groups

Use usrman to set user profiles and to associate a user with a group.

Use this OPTMAN screen to add an option to another menu type option.
